Silvia has been awarded Artist of the Year for 2021-2022 by Senator Melissa Hurtado. It was presented by Zoom in February 2022 by the Senator, for Silvia’s work in the community providing opportunities for arts experience. She has put together an acting training program complete with improv, puppetry, lighting and sound opportunities, staged readings and staged productions, and writes a column for the Hanford Sentinel called HMTC – This Week. This column talks about theater, artists, and endeavors of Hanford Multicultural Theater Company which she co-founded with her daughter. With the pandemic she began a podcast which she co-hosts. The podcast is called HMTC Behind the Scenes Podcast. She also delved into film which she directs and does the editing.

Macho and Big Mouth are planning a birthday surprise with cake, party hats, and presents. They wait for their birthday guest, but he is late. The strange happens….. The first of a series planned for this year. Now slated for August 2022

Drama 2M, 2F simple set Evening of One acts

The biology and psychology of some people can cause havoc to ‘normalcy.’ Four short plays showing resilience, defeat, and accommodation to life’s ‘curve balls.’

Four one-acts on the ‘will’ to control one’s destiny and to find solace. Each one-act has an underlining theme of strength against hopelessness, love and unloved, and procreation and barrenness. In the first one-act, we follow an Italian use psychological force as well as a gun to get a doctor to pull the plug on his comatose wife. In the second, a woman in a bar rationalizes the birth of her child through surrogacy. Third, we sense the entrapment from a mentally ill mother who comes back to belittle her daughter’s achievements. In the fourth one-act characters from the previous acts come together to be in a place of ‘purgatory.’

A great play with hardy laughs and with good roles for older actors. Written from the onset after the author heard older actors complain that the only roles available at the time were grandparent type. Not in this play! Perfect roles for actors 55 and up. The character of Jack Katz was recently played by 87 year old Don Brakeman! (To imagine this script was in a drawer forgotten until 2021.)

Scholarship recipient of the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2020. The is about Pedro who loves puppetry and doing puppet shows, but his Latino parents think it is a poor career choice. With mounting pressure from his parents, Pedro wrestles with whether he should continue. Suddenly puppets he has never seen before keep appearing. Then Evilito puppet, an amalgamation of Kermit, Chucky, and Mexican symbolism appears to guide Pedro, but is Evilito guiding him to his doom? Unfortunately the pandemic postponed this show. Hoping to put it on in June 2022 at the Hollywood Fringe.
